Wall Street Futures Climb on AI Stock Strength

U.S. stock futures edged higher on Thursday, driven by gains in artificial intelligence stocks, which helped to counterbalance concerns stemming from oil price volatility and bond market jitters.
Reuters day-ahead report says Brent is up about 2%, yields are higher and markets are pricing no Fed cut until mid-2028. It also flags Dallas Fed manufacturing data and several central bank speeches later in the week.
Reuters preview says Brent is up about 2% after Trump rejected Iran's latest proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, while fund futures price a 66% chance of a Fed hike in October. The note also points to the Dallas Fed manufacturing survey and speeches by Fed, ECB, BoE and Norges Bank officials.
Brent rose 1.6% to $106.00 a barrel and US crude added 1.1% to $93.47. The 30-year Treasury yield nudged up to 5.5185% while the dollar index hit two-month peaks.
US equity index futures traded higher with the Nasdaq 100 up about 1%. The Magnificent Seven group of mega-cap tech stocks has regained market leadership this month, with an ETF tracking them up 2.5% compared to a 0.5% decline for the S&P 500.
Hang Seng fell 0.2%, or 39 points, to 25,280 as investors stayed cautious over rising oil prices and Middle East tensions. Brent moved toward US$100 after attacks on Saudi energy facilities; chip and AI strength cushioned declines.
U.S. stocks ended the week mixed after August jobs data beat expectations, with employers adding 162,000 positions and unemployment holding at 4.1%, boosting bets the Federal Reserve could raise rates in September.
Bloom Energy Corp. shares trade higher in Friday premarket as traders lean into the AI data center power-demand theme and a CoreWeave expansion read-through.
