SquawkNews ("we", "us", "our") operates squawknews.com. This policy explains what information we collect when you visit the site, how we use it, and your rights.
1. Information we collect
We do not require account registration. We collect the following information automatically:
- Usage data — pages visited, time on page, referrer, browser type, and device type. Collected via Microsoft Clarity, Google Analytics 4 (GA4), and PostHog.
- Session recordings — anonymised screen recordings of user sessions to understand how the product is used (Microsoft Clarity).
- Performance data — Core Web Vitals and page load times (PostHog Web Vitals).
- Click events — which buttons and links users interact with (PostHog autocapture).
If you submit your email address via our waitlist form, we collect your email address and the date of submission.
2. Cookies and tracking
We use the following third-party analytics tools, each of which may set cookies:

All analytics load deferred (after page interaction) and only after you accept cookies via our consent banner. You may withdraw consent at any time by clicking "Cookie settings" in the footer.
3. How we use your information
- To understand how the product is used and improve it
- To identify and fix technical errors
- To measure which features are most valuable
- To contact you about product updates (email waitlist only, with your explicit consent)
We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with advertisers.
4. Data retention
- Analytics data: retained per the default retention settings of each provider (GA4: 14 months, Clarity: 30 days, PostHog: 1 year)
- Email waitlist: retained until you request removal or we delete the list
5. Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request deletion of your data
- Withdraw consent for analytics at any time
- Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (EU users: your national data protection authority)

6. Data transfers
Our analytics providers may transfer data outside the EU/EEA. Microsoft, Google, and PostHog participate in frameworks that provide adequate protection for such transfers.
7. Children
SquawkNews is intended for adult users. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 16.

We may update this policy. Material changes will be noted with a new "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
