US diesel prices surge, nearing gasoline costs, stoking inflation fears
Diesel prices have risen about twice as fast as gasoline, costing consumers $112 billion more at the pump since the start of the Iran war. Refineries are operating at 97% capacity. The national average diesel price was $6.51 on Sept. 21, up 76% from a year ago, while gasoline prices rose 41% to $4.48.
