US Strategic Petroleum Reserve crude oil stocks fell by about 3.6 million barrels to 285 million barrels last week, the lowest since 1982.
Market strategist Ryan Detrick said the U.S. Strategic Petroleum Reserve has dropped to 286 million barrels from 415 million at the start of March, its lowest since the early 1980s. He said the drawdown leaves less cushion if the conflict continues.
U.S. stocks fell Tuesday as crude oil extended higher, pushing the 10-year Treasury yield above 4.8% and reviving bets the Federal Reserve could raise rates next week. The Dow led declines, while Amgen was the biggest drag.
