Bank of America said diesel costs within the Producer Price Index were up nearly 80% year over year in August, pinching U.S. small business owners.
US PPI YoY came in at 5.4% versus a 5.3% forecast and 4.7% prior, with the prior revised to 4.8%. The alert also says the rally in oil prices coincided with stocks and bonds lower.
The producer price index for total final demand rose 0.4% in August, matching economists’ expectations. The index also showed 5.4% year-over-year growth, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported.
