The Treasury’s decision to at least double long-dated debt buybacks pushed benchmark yields lower, weakened the dollar to its lowest since late May and lifted gold-related assets.
The U.S. sold $25 billion of new 30-year bonds at 5.216%, the highest financing cost for that tenor since 2001, while iShares 20+ Year Treasury Bond ETF TLT traded at $81.90, its lowest since June 2004.
