The Swiss franc strengthened against major currencies in European trading on Thursday. It reached a 6-day high against the euro and a 3-day high against the yen.
In the Asian session, the dollar rose to 1.1551 versus the euro and 0.8190 versus the Swiss franc.
In early European trade, the Japanese yen rose to a 9-month high of 89.58 versus the NZ dollar and advanced versus the euro, pound and Swiss franc, including 178.07.
The yen strengthened in the European session, rising to near 10-month highs of 179.23 vs the euro and 190.51 vs the Swiss franc, from early lows of 181.46 and 192.90 respectively.
Swiss franc gained versus most major currencies in the European session after Swiss consumer price inflation accelerated more than expected in August to the highest level in nearly two years.
