Super El Niño could worsen food security in Central America
International Rescue Committee warns that a super El Niño expected to peak between November 2026 and January 2027 could rapidly deteriorate food security in Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador amid conflict-disrupted shipping that raises food, fuel and fertilizer costs.
