The Nasdaq hit a record closing high, boosted by AI stocks, while falling oil prices and retreating Treasury yields improved risk sentiment. European shares rallied, led by banks and tech, and Asian markets were mixed, with Japan higher and China/Hong Kong up on hopes of a trade truce.
Global stocks rose, led by AI-linked tech shares, while oil fell on reports more supply was leaving the Gulf than previously thought. The note also listed closing levels for major equity, bond, currency and commodity markets.
South Korea's exports for the first 20 days of September rose 78.3% from a year earlier to $71.4 billion, the highest 20-day performance on record, as semiconductor shipments increased 259.4%.
The South Korean won traded around 1,345 per dollar, its strongest level since October 2024, as record exports and rising semiconductor shipments supported demand. Corporate banks’ dollar deposits hit about $77 billion, while Fed-hike odds rose.
