Oil rose 2.8% to $97.77. U.S. stocks were mixed midway through trading, with the Dow up 0.93%, the Nasdaq down 0.24% and the S&P 500 up 0.16%.

The S&P 500 Index rose 1.15% for the week to a preliminary close of 7,811.54, according to Dow Jones Market Data and FactSet.

Asian shares fall as oil rises and Treasury yields climb
