Revenue Secretary says banks pay 3% IGST on gold imports
Banks have been paying a 3% Integrated Goods and Services Tax (IGST) on gold and other precious metal imports since April 1, 2026, to ensure tax parity across import routes, according to Revenue Secretary Arvind Shrivastava.
