QQQ moving up
The U.S. 10-year Treasury yield broke above 5% on Tuesday, and crude oil stormed past $105 a barrel, a combination that left every major U.S. equity index in the red at midday. U.S. stocks were mixed Monday as AI hardware shares sold off and cyber names gained after weekend remarks from Anthropic, OpenAI and xAI leaders calling for a slower pace of model development. The 10-year Treasury yield briefly touched 5% and WTI crude rose 2.4% to $102.43.
U.S. stock futures pointed lower Monday after weekend comments from OpenAI and Anthropic executives revived concerns about the pace of AI development. Nvidia, Micron, Sandisk and Oracle were among the stocks cited as in focus.

U.S. equities fell for a second straight session as Treasury yields climbed for a fifth day and crude oil extended gains, with markets increasingly pricing a Federal Reserve rate hike this month.
Hightower Advisors’ Stephanie Link said she does not expect the Federal Reserve to raise rates in September and said a 25-basis-point hike would not be material.
QQQ SPY moving up
Crude rallied Monday after renewed U.S.-Iran strikes, with West Texas Intermediate up 2.5% to $85.49 and Brent up 2.7% to $90.47. The 10-year Treasury yield hit 4.76%, while U.S. equities fell.
Oil is rising after the U.S. struck two rocket launchers on Larak Island, with traders also reacting to hawkish comments from Warsh and broad early selling in stocks.
Nvidia reported Q2 earnings of $2.22 a share versus $2.09 expected, with revenue of $96.2 billion versus $92.18 billion expected. It sees Q3 revenue of $108 billion, plus or minus 2%, and guided FY28 revenue growth to about 70%.
Personal income rose 0.4% versus 0.2% consensus, personal spending rose 0.2% versus 0.2% expected, and PCE came in at 0.2% versus 0.1% consensus, while Q2 GDP second estimate matched forecasts at 1.5%.

U.S. PCE inflation data, personal income and spending, GDP and durable orders are scheduled for tomorrow, while Nvidia earnings are due after the close.
European stocks close higher, with the Euro STOXX 50 up 0.2% to 6,462 and STOXX Europe 600 up 0.4% to 657, led by AI infrastructure, chipmakers, and select industrials.
