New Zealand carbon-credit forests hollow out farm country
New Zealand has approved nearly 9,000 square kilometers of carbon-credit forest, approximately 11 times the land area of New York City. This expansion, driven by the country's emissions trading scheme, is leading to competition for sheep and beef farming land and deepening a decline in rural jobs.
