Banks and gold miners supported the S&P/ASX 200 as investors awaited the Reserve Bank of Australia's policy meeting on Tuesday.
Australian shares edged higher on Tuesday, led by gains in banks and miners, while technology stocks surged nearly 4% in their best session since late August. The S&P/ASX 200 index rose 0.3% to 8,759.60, with the resources sub-index up 0.4% and financials up 0.2%.
