CBOT wheat eases on technical selling, pressure from lower corn and soy

CHICAGO, Oct 15 (Reuters) — Chicago Board of Trade wheat futures traded on both sides of previous levels on Thursday but closed lower on technical selling and spillover pressure from lower corn and soybeans. Wheat prices were up earlier in the day on higher European markets and after further attacks on cargo ships in the western Black Sea. The US Department of Agriculture is due to release weekly export sales data early on Friday. Analysts surveyed by Reuters expect net US wheat sales in the week ended October 8 at 300,000 to 600,000 metric tons for shipments in the 2026/27 marketing year. CBOT December soft red winter wheat closed 3-1/4 cents lower at $6.70 per bushel. Selling in the benchmark contract increased after it pushed above its 100-day moving average but later failed to hold above the key technical level. K.C. December hard red winter wheat last traded 2-3/4 cents lower at $7.12-1/4 a bushel. Minneapolis December spring wheat ended 3-1/4 cents lower at $6.86 a bushel.
