ICE canola futures rise on soyoil strength
(All figures in Canadian dollars unless noted) WINNIPEG, Manitoba, Oct 5 (Reuters) — ICE canola futures settled higher on Monday as Chicago soy oil gained. November canola futures rose 0.44% or $3.90 to $819.40 per metric ton. Gains were slightly higher in spring and summer contracts Warm and sunny weather across much of the Canadian prairies should allow much of the remaining canola crop to be harvested this week. Farmers are weeks behind usual progress Canola futures have been edging lower but remain relatively strong in what is traditionally a weak time in the market, as farmers deliver and hedge their crops, a trader said Brent crude oil fell as oil shipments out of the Middle Eastern gulf are at pre-war levels. Crude values have become a major factor in canola oil prices as the crop's biofuel role gives it direct exposure to the energy market Chicago soyoil rose 1.06%.
