Over 170 Iranian Military Sites Targeted by US Forces in Past Two Days, US Centcom Says

The US has targeted over 170 Iranian military targets off the Iranian coast near the Strait of Hormuz in the last two days, the US military's Central Command confirmed to. The attacks were a response to Iranian strikes against vessels crossing the Strait of Hormuz, despite an interim peace deal agreed with the US that had enabled traffic to cautiously begin crossing the waterway again after months of closure. The renewed US strikes targeted air defence systems, drone and missile storage sites, military speed boats, and logistics infrastructure, Al Jazeera said, citing a New York Times report. The attacks were meant to weaken Iran's ability to target commercial shipping in the crucial waterway, it said. US forces carried out about 14 times as many strikes in these past two days as the number of targets hit in June during the previous escalation.
