Hong Kong Stocks Climb as Tech and Healthcare Shares Rally

The Hang Seng Index rose 1.2%, or 290 points, to around 23,820 on Wednesday, recovering from morning losses as gains in technology and healthcare shares lifted sentiment. Market confidence drew support from Hong Kong's private-sector activity returning to expansion in October, with the S&P Global PMI rising to 50.2 from 49.2 in September, marking its strongest reading in three months. Chinese technology companies also supported sentiment, with JPMorgan expressing optimism over domestic AI models and Citi highlighting resilient demand for semiconductor equipment. Investors also monitored developments in China's AI industry, including SenseTime's launch of its latest SenseNova model. Semiconductor Manufacturing International (7.27%), Z.AI (6.33%), Lenovo (5.39%) and MiniMax (4.88%) advanced, while Kingboard Laminates (9.02%), Wuxi Biologics (10.68%) and Genscript (8.01%) posted notable gains.
