US Futures Mixed as Midterm Elections Results Awaited

US stock futures were mixed on Wednesday as investors monitored the midterm election results and assessed the latest corporate earnings. S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100 futures each gained around 0.1%, while Dow futures slipped 0.1%. Preliminary polls indicated a potential shift in control of the House of Representatives to Democrats, while the Senate race remained uncertain. Investors are concerned that a Democratic victory across both chambers could bring tighter regulation of the AI sector and increased corporate oversight. On the corporate front, AMD surged more than 6% in after-hours trading after reporting stronger-than-expected third-quarter earnings and revenue, boosting shares of other semiconductor companies. Super Micro Computer and Arista Networks also advanced following better-than-expected quarterly results. During Tuesday’s regular session, the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite rose 0.36% and 0.83%, respectively, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average declined 0.38%.
