The Children's Place is reportedly preparing to file for bankruptcy protection as it faces significant financial challenges, including mounting debt and declining store traffic. According to reports, the company is seeking bids to either maintain business operations or liquidate its assets. The company has struggled with six consecutive quarters of operating losses and significant declines in both comparable and net sales. Existing shareholders are expected to be wiped out in the event of a bankruptcy filing.

Despite previous cash infusions from its largest shareholder, Mithaq Capital, the retailer's financial position has continued to deteriorate.
