IMF Lifts UK Growth Forecast for 2026 as Energy Shock Wanes

The International Monetary Fund raised its UK economic growth estimate for 2026 as the energy shock due to the Middle East war fades. In its World Economic Outlook update published Wednesday, the IMF expects the UK economy to grow 1% in 2026, up from the April estimate of 0.8%. For 2027, the growth estimate was retained at 1.3%. Meanwhile, the country's core inflation rate is projected to return to target by mid-2027.
