Smart DCC Agrees to Pay GBP200,000 in Procurement Practices Probe by Ofgem

Smart DCC agreed to pay 200,000 pounds sterling to the UK's Office of Gas and Electricity Markets, or Ofgem's, voluntary redress fund, and improve its procurement processes following the conclusion of the regulator's investigation into its procurement practices. The investigation determined that out of the five procurement contracts awarded by the telecommunications company between 2021 and 2024, one contract followed a non-competitive process and one fundamental service capability contract was awarded to its parent company, Capita (CPI.L), according to a Wednesday filing. Ofgem concluded that Smart DCC breached license condition 16.4 of the Smart Meter Communication Licence and expects the company to take procurement decisions on a competitive basis without undue preference.
