European Gas Prices Fall on Hopes for Middle East Diplomacy
European natural gas prices fell to €102.5/MWh on Monday as diplomatic efforts in the Middle East eased concerns over further escalation, although prices remained elevated amid tight supply conditions. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said diplomatic contacts with Iran remained active, and President Trump had yet to decide on new strikes against Iran. Iran's supreme leader, meanwhile, warned the US and Israel against further strikes. This comes as Iran and Qatar continued talks in Doha for a third consecutive day, aimed at ending the conflict. LNG supplies from the Persian Gulf remain severely disrupted as security threats through the Strait of Hormuz continue. Europe's gas storage stood at 74.62% as of November 1, leaving reserves at historically low levels ahead of winter. With temperatures falling and withdrawals already beginning in several countries, storage levels are likely to face further pressure, keeping upward price risks elevated.
