BofA says current backdrop is conducive for Walmart to accelerate share gains

BofA analyst Christopher Nardone noted Walmart's decision to lower prices in certain areas does not impact guidance and the firm sees no incremental margin risk from these actions. The dollars used to fund the price investments will come from a combination of dollars already incorporated in the initial guidance provided in February in addition to tariff refunds that are starting to trickle in, BofA told investors in a research note. The firm added that this is the quickest way for Walmart to get money back to consumers and signals the company is playing offense in a highly competitive grocery environment.
