SkinHealth Systems (SKIN) said Tuesday that its SkinStylus microneedling device has received US Food and Drug Administration clearance to improve the appearance of periorbital wrinkles in adults aged 22 years and older for all Fitzpatrick skin types. Microneedling is a procedure that uses fine needles to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin, supporting the skin's natural renewal process to improve texture, the company said. SkinHealth Systems said that the device is cleared for use in multiple indications, including to improve the appearance of periorbital wrinkles in Fitzpatrick skin types I-VI, facial acne scars in Fitzpatrick skin types I, II, and III, and surgical or traumatic hypertrophic scars on the abdomen. Shares of the company were up 4.3% in Tuesday's premarket activity.
