Lockheed Martin, Rheinmetall Sign Deal to Build ATACMS Missile Production Hub in Europe
Lockheed Martin (LMT) has signed a memorandum of understanding with Rheinmetall to establish a joint venture aimed at producing Army Tactical Missile System, or ATACMS, in Europe, the company said Tuesday. The partnership, announced at the NATO Summit Defense Industry Forum, will create a European center for manufacturing, integration and distribution of the long-range, guided missiles for NATO and allied forces, the company said. The missiles will be produced at Rheinmetall's Unterluess site in Germany, while Lockheed Martin will continue operating its existing ATACMS production line in Arkansas during the transition, according to the statement.
