Anixa Biosciences Treats First Patient in Fifth Cohort of Ovarian Cancer CAR-T Clinical Trial

Anixa Biosciences (ANIX) said Monday the first patient has been treated in the fifth cohort of its phase 1 trial evaluating its novel CAR-T therapy lira-cel, which targets follicle stimulating hormone receptor for recurrent ovarian cancer. The trial is designed to assess safety, tolerability and preliminary signs of efficacy of the treatment across escalating dose levels, the company said. The patient received the highest dose level assessed to date in the study. The ongoing trial, which is being conducted at Moffitt Cancer Center in Florida, is enrolling adult women with recurrent ovarian cancer who have progressed after at least two prior therapies. To date, five patients have surpassed one year of survival following treatment, Anixa said.
