South Pacific Metals Provides Assays from Ontenu Project in Papua New Guinea
South Pacific Metals (SPMC.V) provided "highly encouraging" assays from drill hole ONED26-009 at its Ontenu project in Papua New Guinea, the company said Monday. Highlights include 5 meters at 12.84 grams per tonne (g/t) gold equivalent, including 2 m at 28.06 g/t gold equivalent, and 12.2 m at 6.24 g/t gold equivalent, including 2 m at 16.65 g/t gold equivalent. "The results from hole ONED26-009 are highly encouraging because they demonstrate that the Megabe structure is not an isolated occurrence, but part of a broader mineralised system with clear continuity and scale potential," exploration manager Octavio Garcia said. "What is particularly exciting is that we are still in the early stages of testing Ontenu, and each drill hole is helping us refine our geological model and vector towards higher-grade zones," Garcia added. The company plans to follow up on the results and start to test other structures in the Ontenu project area.
