Skanska Wins SEK1 Billion Rock Cavern Construction Project in Sweden

Skanska (SKA-B.ST) said Monday it entered a multi-phase construction contract worth 1 billion kronor with Svensk Kärnbränslehantering. Under the agreement, the Swedish construction company will build rock caverns spanning between 240 meters and 275 meters in length and 120 meters and 140 meters in depth for Sweden's radioactive waste final repository in Forsmark. Work is slated to start in the third quarter of 2026, with completion in the fourth quarter of 2028. The project is expected to start trial operations between 2030 and 2031.
