Minebea Mitsumi to Invest 58 Billion Yen to Boost AI Data Center Bearing Production
Minebea Mitsumi (TYO:6479) will invest 58 billion yen to expand precision bearing production for AI data center cooling and storage equipment, as AI demand spreads to the broader components sector, Nikkei Asia reported on Monday, citing chairman and CEO Yoshihisa Kainuma. The Japanese manufacturer plans to raise overall bearing capacity by about 30% to over 500 million units per month through investments in Southeast Asian production bases, the news daily said. Kainuma said the company will build a new factory within an existing complex, with Cambodia and Thailand under consideration, featuring advanced equipment to improve efficiency by roughly 60%, the publication said. Construction is slated to begin this year, with production expected to start as early as fiscal 2028, the report said.
