Renewable Energy Share in India Power Mix Hits Record High in June; Coal Power Highest in Nearly 3 Years

The share of renewable energy in India's power mix reached a record of 19% in June, as renewable generation rose 23% year over year to 33.81 terawatt-hours, At the same time, India's coal-fired power generation climbed 14% year over year to 120.20 TWh in June, the highest since November 2023, as hot, dry weather drove demand for cooling.
