Update: BHP Workers Back New Deal at Two Australian Mines, Union Says

(Updates to add BHP's statement) The Western Mine Workers Alliance said Friday that 58% of BHP Group's (BHP.L, BHG.JO) 1,800 workers at its Mining Area C and South Flank iron ore operations in Western Australia voted in favor of the company's latest enterprise agreement offer. Subject to Fair Work Commission approval, the four-year agreement includes annual pay increases of 4%, delayed flight compensation starting in 2027, 14% superannuation contributions and other improved entitlements. The alliance said the deal improved on BHP's initial offer but still fell short of several of its bargaining claims. In an emailed statement, WAIO Asset President Tim Day said the deal is a "win-win" for both BHP and the workers as it enables pay increases in the next four years, alongside higher allowances and benefits. "[The agreement] also provides greater certainty for our workforce and operations into the future," Day added.
