China, US Aim Tariff Cuts on Farm Products

China and the U.S. have agreed "in principle" to reduce tariffs on agricultural products following recent trade talks, Commerce Ministry Spokesperson He Yadong said in a Thursday press briefing. Both Washington and Beijing have set objectives to grow two-way agricultural trade, the spokesperson said. "China is willing to work with the United States to create favorable conditions for bilateral agricultural trade," He Yadong said during the press conference. Beijing committed to purchase at least 25 million tons of farm products worth $17 billion from the U.S., including soybeans.
