US Stocks Mixed After Fed

The S&P 500 edged up 0.1%, while the Dow Jones gained nearly 100 points and the Nasdaq hovered around the flatline on Wednesday, as markets delivered a mixed reaction to the FOMC decision. As expected, the Fed left interest rates unchanged, although two policymakers dissented in favor of a 25bps rate hike. The central bank offered no forward guidance, while investors continued to price in a nearly 90% probability of a rate hike in December, little changed from before the announcement. Meanwhile, corporate earnings remained in focus. Microsoft (-0.8%) and Alphabet (+1.2%) are due to report results after the closing bell. Apple fell 0.5% despite unveiling a revamped MacBook Pro featuring a touchscreen.
