Exclusive: ‘All In’ podcast cools on ‘super intelligence’

Mentions of SI by the hosts of All-In jumped shortly after Trump announced the renaming on Sept. 22. The US’ most influential tech podcast has cooled on the use of the term “super intelligence,” President Donald Trump’s preferred alternative for AI, a Semafor analysis found. Mentions of SI by the hosts of All-In jumped shortly after Trump announced the renaming on Sept. 22, though they never outpaced mentions of AI, according to episode transcripts. “You’ve got this AI boom, or SI boom,” co-host David Sacks, Trump’s former AI and crypto czar, said on Oct. 2. The term has fallen off in more recent episodes. Sacks and fellow hosts Chamath Palihapitiya, Jason Calacanis, and David Friedberg said super intelligence 23 times on Oct. 2, compared to AI’s 31 — but on the latest episode, Oct. 23, they said AI 29 times, and never said SI. All-In is a heavyweight in both Silicon Valley and Washington; Sacks remains an outside adviser to Trump, and the White House’s AI policy “ increasingly bears the stamp ” of the podcast, Axios wrote last month. If even they’ve given up on “SI,” there may be little hope for it catching on among the general public.
