Indian markets faced heavy selling by midday on Friday, as early gains quickly faded and declines spread across sectors. The Sensex opened at 73665.64, compared with its previous close of 73249.39, and was trading at 72523.94, down 725.45 points, or 0.99 per cent, at 12:50.
