US Futures Edge Lower

US stock futures fell on Friday, with S&P 500 futures down 0.3%, Nasdaq 100 futures slipping 0.1% and Dow Jones futures losing around 300 points. The declines followed a sharp sell-off on Thursday, when the S&P 500 dropped 1.2% in its steepest single-session decline since July, while the Nasdaq Composite plunged 2.6% in its worst session since June. Safe-haven sentiment continued to dominate amid elevated oil prices and mounting concerns over a potential escalation of hostilities in the Middle East. In premarket trading, Microsoft fell 0.5% and Meta slipped 0.6%, while American Express plunged 2% despite reporting better-than-expected earnings. Meanwhile, the rotation away from AI-related stocks continued, albeit at a slower pace, with chipmakers attempting a rebound. Nvidia gained 0.3%, while Micron advanced 1.6%. For the week, the S&P 500 was little changed, while the Nasdaq Composite was down 0.5%. In contrast, the Dow Jones was on track for a weekly gain of around 1.7%.
