Polish central bank could post 2026 profit, MPC member says
WARSAW, Oct 16 (Reuters) — The National Bank of Poland (NBP) could post a profit in 2026, following a loss of 35.7 billion zlotys ($9 billion) in 2025, Monetary Policy Council (MPC) member Ludwik Kotecki said in an interview with Polish Radio on Friday. "It’s hard to say what the profit will be, but I’ve heard that there will be a chance for such a profit this year," said Kotecki "The information coming from the implementation of the NBP financial plan indicates that profit is possible" In 2024, NBP made a loss of 13.3 billion zlotys. According to law, if the central bank makes a profit, 95% of it is transferred to the state budget ($1 = 3.8891 zlotys) (Reporting by Pawel Florkiewicz and Anna Wlodarczak-Semczuk.
