Albert Heijn cancels online grocery orders after cyber incident

Oct 15 (Reuters) — Dutch supermarket chain Albert Heijn, operated by Ahold Delhaize, said on Thursday it had to cancel all online grocery orders at least until Sunday following a recent cyber incident. It is currently not possible to place new orders, Albert Heijn said in a statement. The retailer said on Monday it was dealing with a "security issue" on its network and had taken several systems offline as ‌a precaution. All teams are working hard to carefully restore its systems and store inventory, the company said. Customers who have already paid for their orders will be compensated as their systems are brought back online, the retailer added in a statement. The incident coincided with a cyberattack in France that caused fires and spoiling food. (Reporting by Hyunsu Yim in Barcelona; Editing by Perla Velasco) ((Hyunsu.Yim@thomsonreuters.com)
