Saskatchewan crop report

(Content is published from Saskatchewan government website) Oct 15 (Reuters) — Producers continue to harvest remaining crops and complete fall field work. However, rain and snow over the weekend slowed these activities in many areas of the province. Producers remain hopeful that favourable conditions will allow them to return to the field before winter. Provincially, harvest is 93 per cent complete. The southwest and west-central regions are the most advanced at 98 and 97 per cent complete, followed by the east-central and northwest regions at 91 per cent. The northeast and southeast regions are 89 per cent complete. Many areas of the province received rain and snow, with precipitation amounts varying by region. The highest precipitation was reported in the Coalfields area at 28 millimetres (mm), followed by Mount Pleasant and Enniskillen with 24 mm and the Indian Head area with 22 mm. The precipitation was beneficial for producers who had completed harvest, improving soil moisture conditions ahead of spring seeding. Harvest operations are nearing completion across the province, with only a small number of acres remaining in the field. For more information
