Irish PM: there is pathway to getting EU budget resolved by year — end

BRUSSELS, Oct 15 (Reuters) — Irish Prime Minister Micheal Martin, whose country holds the rotating presidency of the European Union, expressed hope on Thursday that the EU could reach agreement on its next budget, despite complaints from many net contributor countries over its size. "I do sense that people feel there is a pathway to getting this resolved by the end of the year," Martin told reporters as he arrived at an EU summit in Brussels. "My view all along has been a larger budget is required for Europe to attain its objectives," he added.
