REX Shares (“REX”), a leading innovator in alternative ETFs, today announced the launch of the REX Peptide ETF (Ticker: PEPT), a thematic ETF built to own the peptide economy end to end.
PEPT holds the companies that develop, manufacture, deliver, and commercialize peptide-based products, expanding investor exposure beyond the two drugmakers that dominate today’s GLP-1 market. It is REX’s third thematic ETF, following the REX Drone ETF (DRNZ) and the REX AI Chipmaking ETF (CHIP). Peptides are the body’s own signaling molecules, re-engineered into precise, scalable medicines. They are the technology behind today’s GLP-1 treatments and a growing pipeline of therapies well beyond obesity, spanning metabolic disease, cardiovascular indications, oncology, and rare disease.
Most portfolios hold peptide exposure only through Eli Lilly and Novo Nordisk. In addition to those two names, PEPT owns the developers, manufacturers, and platforms behind them. Wherever the next generation of peptide treatment leads, it still has to be commercialized, manufactured, and delivered, and those are the parts of the chain PEPT touches. The launch comes early in the adoption curve.
S. adults taking a GLP-1 for weight loss has risen from 3% in 2024 to 11% in 2026(2). P. Morgan Global Research forecasts the global incretin market, which includes GLP-1s, reaching $200 billion by 2030(1), and Morgan Stanley Research expects the market for GLP-1 treatments of obesity and type 2 diabetes to more than double from $79 billion in 2025 to $190 billion by 2035(3).
Supply is now the constraint: demand for peptide manufacturing is outrunning capacity, and PEPT owns the manufacturers building it. “Investors have spent three years expressing the GLP-1 trade through two stocks. The companies that develop, make, and deliver peptides are where the next phase of growth has to run through,” said Greg King, CEO and Founder of REX Shares. “Whichever peptide wins the next indication, it still gets manufactured and delivered by the same supply chain.
” The ETF is based on the VettaFi Peptide Index, which tracks global companies positioned to advance the development, manufacturing, and commercial adoption of peptide-based products. The index spans four segments: therapeutics and medicine, manufacturing and medical devices, nutraceuticals and supplements, and cosmeceuticals and skincare. Constituents must have a minimum market capitalization of $100 million and a three-month average daily traded value of at least $1 million.
