France Reports Ebola Case
France's Health Ministry identifies first case of Ebola virus in the country
**Insight: Europe had been assessed as very low risk despite the large 2026 Bundibugyo Ebola outbreak centered in DRC/Uganda.
WHO declared the outbreak a PHEIC in May, and recent reports showed DRC confirmed cases topping 1,000 with 254 deaths, so an imported French case would be a notable escalation versus prior EU/ECDC expectations that importation risk was very low.
