Corgi adds Canopius’ Oldham as trucking underwriting head
By Michael Loney Oct 13 (The Insurer) — San Francisco-based insurtech startup Corgi Insurance has hired Daniel Oldham as head of underwriting for trucking. Oldham has over a decade of commercial insurance and transportation underwriting experience. He most recently served as vice president and head of transportation at Canopius Group, where he grew the transportation book from $10 million to $39 million. Corgi said that during his tenure at Canopius he also developed and launched a cannabis transportation insurance program, built an admitted trucking program, managed reinsurance relationships and expanded transportation offerings across admitted and non-admitted markets. Before joining Canopius in October 2022, Oldham held commercial underwriting positions at NBIS and Great West Casualty Company. "Oldham brings a strong combination of transportation underwriting expertise, program development experience, and a track record of building profitable books of business," said Emily Yuan, co-founder and COO of Corgi. In his new role, Oldham will oversee trucking underwriting at Corgi, including risk selection, pricing, portfolio management, product development and broker relationships. Co
