Flood Re appoints Green as chair

By Navneeta Nandan Oct 13 (The Insurer) — Flood Re has appointed Simon Green to succeed Bridget Rosewell as chair, the UK reinsurance backstop said on Tuesday. Rosewell had announced that she would be stepping down in July. Green currently serves as senior independent director at Flood Re. He has previously held senior roles at the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), the Financial Services Authority (FSA) and the Bank of England, and currently serves as a non-executive director in the insurance sector. Flood Re was established in 2016 as a joint initiative between the government and the insurance industry to make the flood cover element of household insurance more affordable and accessible for households at risk of flooding. In a separate announcement, Flood Re also said that it will develop BeFloodReady into a national platform for flood resilience that will serve as a "trusted online resource for flood resilience information, support, research and innovation in the UK". It is supported by Defra and Floods Minister Emma Hardy MP.
