Amwins Global Risks broadens C&I facility to include BESS and EV charging infrastructure

By Chris Munro Oct 13 (The Insurer) — Amwins Global Risks (AGR) has broadened the appetite of its Commercial & Industrial (C&I) insurance facility to now also include battery energy storage systems (BESS) and electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure. According to AGR, the facility’s expansion means portfolios of smaller, distributed energy assets can be insured under one program. Broadening of the facility comes at a time when construction of EV charging stations is ramping up in the US. The facility can provide coverage to both construction and operational risks, with protections offered including delay in start-up and business interruption. “The addition of BESS and EV charging infrastructure reflects the increasing convergence of distributed energy technologies,” said Dr Tom Harries, director at AGR. “It allows us to focus on monitoring how the portfolio’s natural catastrophe exposure changes as new projects are added and gives developers the freedom to concentrate on building out their portfolios, knowing their insurance program can adapt and grow alongside them,” he said. Buyers can structure deductibles to reflect the scale and characteristics of their individual assets.
