OTHERS Notices of Assessment by the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia SIME DARBY BERHAD Type Announcement Subject OTHERS Description Notices of Assessment by the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia Sime Darby Berhad ("Sime") wishes to announce that Sime Darby Holdings Berhad ("SDHB"), a wholly owned subsidiary of Sime, had on 30 September 2026 received Notices of Assessment ("Notices") from the Inland Revenue Board ("IRB") for the years of assessment 2017 to 2023 totalling RM150,176,937.56 inclusive of penalties. The Notices were raised pursuant to IRB's decision to treat interest income from SDHB's treasury activities as income subject to tax under Section 4(c) of the Income Tax Act 1967 for the years of assessment 2017 to 2023. SDHB is given 30 days from the date of the Notices to appeal against the IRB's decision. Upon consulting its tax and legal counsels, SDHB is of the view that there are valid legal grounds to defend against the Notices. SDHB intends to appeal and initiate legal proceedings to challenge the basis and validity of the Notices raised by the IRB.
