EUROPE POWER — French spot price jumps as wind output slumps
Oct 13 (Reuters) — European spot electricity prices rose on Tuesday, led by France where an expected drop in wind power supply was expected to lift residual load. The French baseload spot electricity contract rose 12.7% to €188 ($210) per megawatt hour at 0800 GMT, LSEG data showed. The German equivalent contract was up 6.9% to €174.5 /MWh, the data showed. Wind output is expected to fall through the day, with France, Belgium and the Netherlands looking tighter on supply than the rest of central western Europe, while Austria appears better supplied, LSEG analyst Tabish Parray said. French wind output is projected to fall by 3.8 gigawatts to 1.6 GW, some 4.6 GW below the seasonal norm, while German wind power generation is forecast to rise by 0.4 GW to 21.9 GW, LSEG data showed. Solar power generation in France is expected to rise by 1.0 GW to 3.9 GW, while German solar output is seen up by 1.2 GW to 8.9 GW. Consumption in France is seen up by 0.4 GW to 45.1 GW, while German consumption is expected to fall by 0.2 GW to 56.3 GW. That will lift French residual load, meaning demand minus wind and solar, by 3.2 GW to 39.6 GW. German residual load is forecast to fall by 1.8 GW to 25.6 GW
