Europe Distillates — Diesel deliveries for October fall at expiry

LONDON, Oct 12 — Deliveries of low-sulphur gasoil for October fell to 439 lots, or 43,900 metric tons, at expiry, down from 740 lots in September, Intercontinental Exchange data showed on Monday. The October contract traded at $1,449.00 a ton at expiry, around 2% below the previous day's close. US President Donald Trump stepped up his efforts to lower US diesel prices by lifting sanctions on Russian diesel exports and announcing a ceasefire on energy infrastructure between Russia and Ukraine. Meanwhile logistical difficulties, including low water levels on the Danube River, and rising fuel prices in Europe could lead to a diesel shortage in Ukraine, fuel industry online news outlet Enkorr said. The International Energy Agency's Executive Director Fatih Birol suggested on Sunday that all members assess whether additional diesel releases are necessary and to set out their scale, timing and supplemental nature as governments seek to tackle record fuel prices and supply disruptions caused by the Iran war.
