Stocks rise as oil rebounds on reported Mideast attack
U.S. equities edge higher while oil gains after reports of a ship struck near waters off the UAE and bond yields tick up to about 5.256% on the week’s risk tone.
By Ed Ballard Stocks look set to end the week on a more positive note, after President Trump promised not to attack Iran before the midterms. K. E. Increased attacks in the region have kept Brent crude prices well above $100 a barrel for most of the week.
S. stocks are edging higher, with the Nasdaq seemingly shaking off concerns about the pace of AI growth that weighed on tech stocks yesterday. Those jitters were still evident this morning as Firmus Grid, an Nvidia-backed cloud computing company, scrapped its plan for Australia's largest initial public offering in almost 30 years. Most Asian and European stock markets were firmly positive.
Bond yields have crept higher with oil prices. 02 percentage point. S. bonds yesterday showed healthy demand, helping relieve upward pressure on borrowing costs.
